Robin Freakin’ Thicke!!!!
Ah yes! GREAT day indeed. Turned out that my advisor was ROBIN THICKE!!!! Are you kidding me??!! I’ve been a fan of Robin for a LONG time. I bet money that I was more excited than anyone on the team. Didn’t wanna show it, though, and look like a punk. 🙂 He was AMAZING to work with. Greeted me with a hug and he, Adam, and myself dove right into the song. I think the number one thing I took away from our session was a confidence lesson. Robin wants me to walk out on the stage thinking I’m the best singer in the world and that I have it in the bag. Basically, be super cocky without letting anyone see it. Didn’t expect that advice at all but it makes total sense. The performance aspect of the song is probably the easiest, but the mental part of the “game” is what will wear you down. Walking out with super positive thoughts will only make the performance better. Here’s a few shots of us working…
I was an even bigger fan of Robin after working with him. So much so, I took wifey to his sold out show in ATL on our break. He slayed! He was having vocal problems but he still put on a great show and even poked fun of himself which made it even better. Check it!
My day with Adam and Robin was by far my favorite day of The Voice so far. Hopefully, there are MANY more to come. 🙂 Any other Robin fans out there?
Hey guys! Hope yall are enjoying the show!!! It’s been amazing out here and getting more and more interesting every day. 2 days ago we met with Adam for the big battle partner reveal. In my head, the number one person I didn’t want to battle was Tony Lucca. Adam called Tony’s name first, then paused for a few seconds, then pointed at me. BUMMER! I don’t want to face Tony for a few different reasons: The obvious is that he is insanely talented and can sing anything but the other reason is that we’ve gotten to be good buds since we’ve roomed together. I was hoping both of us would go far in the competition. To know that won’t happen is pretty disappointing BUT the main focus is to continue to do ME and the rest will take care of itself.
here’s a pic of me in hair and makeup getting ready to find out who I battle!
Adam gave us U2’s “Beautiful Day” which is awesome! I’ve been a U2 fan since I was in diapers. My uncle has always been a die hard fan. He would always crank U2 anytime I was at his house and I’d dance around and play my plastic toy guitar. One of the defining moments in my life happened when Adam told us that this song was a personal favor for him. He told us that before Bono would clear the song for the show, he needed to watch our blind audition videos. Well, he approved. CRAZY!!!! Amazing to think that the biggest band in the world watch me and has faith in me to do their song justice on national TV. No matter what happens with the show, no one will ever be able to take that away from me.
It was obviously an amazing day for all of us. However, we’d be lying if we said we weren’t a little stressed out in anticipation of finding out who we would battle. We took some pics to blow off some steam. 🙂
Angel and myself
Me and Whitney keeping gansta!
Tomorrow I find out who my mentor will be!!!! Stoked to work with Adam and whoever the mystery mentor is! Timberlake? Bruno Mars? Javier Colon maybe? I’ll report back tomorrow with my reaction! Peace!
Just saw Blind Audition tapes!!!
EEEK!!! LOL, that was ALL of team Adam’s reactions when we were told we were about to watch all of our blind audition tapes of everyone on the team. We were told we had a quick meeting in the hotel and we walked into an official meeting room with cameras around and a TV set up at the end of the table. When they told us we were about to watch everyone’s audition tapes, all of our collective stomachs dropped at once. It’s hard enough to watch yourself on tape when you are alone, so you could imagine the feeling when 11 other artists are watching it then looking at you for a reaction. LOL
Here’s a pic of us in the room…
We had a blast with it though! As tough as it was, it brought us all closer together. I’m telling you, this team is FIERCE! As far as my reaction to seeing me own audition, it was pretty terrifying to say the least. If I’m completely honest, since the blind audition, I’ve been freaking out about my first falsetto note. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was, but it was still pretty weak compared to how I usually do it. Oh well, that’s part of reality TV I guess. Yall get the good, the bad, and the ugly. 🙂
Another chill day today. Tomorrow we meet with Adam and find out the song and who we battle for the battle rounds!!! We’re all super stoked!
Meanwhile, I’m trying to score us some tickets to Universal Studios (which is literally across the street) so we can have some good hang time outside of the show! Love this place!
Took this pic walking around today.
That’s all for now peeps! Be sure to hit me up on Twitter and we can chat about the show!!! @chriscauley Be blessed!
Hey guys and gals!!! Hope yall are enjoying watching the show! It’s been incredible on my end of things. Who knew Monday’s could be so fun. I had a few questions from some folks about what I’m listening to these days. Well, I thought I’d tell ya in blog format. 🙂
-I’m BIG into “Dirty Loops!!!” Yall seen their videos online yet!!?!!? AMAZING. Love the way they spin current pop tunes. Serious chops.
-Always listening to my dear friend, Matt Cusson. His record is incredible. He’s actual on tour with Javier Colon right now so he’s in The Voice fam. Get his record yall!!!
As far as who has the most plays on my IPod it’s gotta be Anthony Hamilton, Brian McKnight, John Mayer, Robin Thicke, David Ryan Harris, Eric Benet, Jamie Cullum, Michael Jackson, Jonny Lang, Michael Buble, Prince, Stevie, and Ray Charles. I like to think my IPod is the life of the party at all times. 🙂
What are yall listening to?!?!? Gimme some new stuff!!!
Thanks for all the love!
Watching The Blinds!!!!
Wow, this has been crazy. I said crazy, but I meant CRAZY!!!!! If i’m honest, I was cringing throught my entire blind audition. I can’t stand watching/listening to myself and especially that day. My throat was killing me. LOL. The show must go on though, right? 🙂
I’m having an absolute BLAST watching my friends perform on the big stage! We spend so much time together, but ironcially enough, 95% of that time isn’t signing, so most of my friends I hadn’t even heard sing yet! Jamar, Justin and Tony Vincent were some of my favs. Love those fellas, but I had never really heard them sing. They KILLED it and I couldn’t be more proud.
Speaking of proud, my lil sis Mathai just SHUT IT DOWN tonight!!!! I think I was more excited to see her than I was my own audition. LOL. We shared so many great conversations on life and everything involved with it. To see her succeed tonight was something special. She just moved to ATL and we recently got together to film a youtube cover of John’s Legend’s “Ordinary People.” Here are some pics from the shoot…
Hope yall are having as much fun watching as we are! Don’t forget to hop on over to ITunes and pick up my FULL LENGTH studio version of “Grenade.” More to come soon! Thank yall for all the amazing love and support!!! Can’t do it without YOU!!!
Back in LA!!!
Well, after 2 weeks relaxing weeks off, I’m back in LA! Gotta admit, I LOVED being home. Got to spend some quality time with wifey which is something that doesn’t happen too often. We got our wedding pictures back so we spent a ton of time going through them. Here’s a few of em for ya…
On the break, I ended up buying a nice bicycle to hit the trail and stay active. I get waaaay too bored running, so i thought it’d be a nice change of pace. So far, so good. Nothing like, hitting the trail on a fall day in Georgia. Check out my view…
I did have some sad news a few days before I came back out to LA. My aunt passed away. We’re still not exactly sure what happened, but she had health problems for a while. Actually, when I was getting on the plane today, my parents were getting ready for the funeral. Heavy heart flying is never fun, but it’s part of the job, I guess. Since this week is only team Adam in LA, it’s nice to get to have some quality hang time with my team to keep my spirits up. It’s working. If I can’t be with my family, being with with team Adam fam is the next best thing.
Alright, gotta run. I’m bout to be late for a meeting. More updates soon!

1) If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go? I’d have to say back to Hawaii with my wife. A private resort on the island of Kauai would be just fine. 🙂
2) Who is your celebrity crush? I’ve always LOVED Diane Lane. Gorgeous and classy!
3) What song is currently your guilty pleasure? Not that current but I’ve been known to immediately start dancing when “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus comes on.
4) Who would play you in a movie? Gotta go with funnyman Jason Segal on this one. Feel like we’d be buds.
5) What’s your favorite song from your coach? Hands down “If I Never See Your Face Again” SOOOO funky. Pop song without compromising musicality. LOVE it!
6) What was your first concert ever? The Beach Boys played on the field after a Braves game. Barely remember it, but I do remember…New Kids on the Block. I know, I know. Don’t laugh.
7) Tattoos? 2. Right arm says “SOUL” and a trebele clef on left arm.
8) My last text message says: Ah busted… A text to my wife saying “I can’t wait to hug my wife!” Fellas, don’t hate. Haha.
9) People would be surprised to learn that I have ____ on my iPod. Jamie Cullum. I’m a big jazz guy and that dude is AMAZING! One of my favorite concerts ever.
10) My coach in 3 words: Inspiring. Chill. Hilarious.
